Image Optimization
Introduction
Large images can take up lots of storage space on your website. Optimizing images on your site is an easy way to improve your website's performance.
Optimization Advantages
Optimizing the images on your site can:
- Help improve the loading time of your page and site
- Improve your SEO ranking
- Allow backups to be created faster
Recommendations
We always recommend:
- Creating at the size you need versus just saving images at the size you received. For example, if the original image size is 4184 x 2456 pixels, reducing it by 80% will still result in an image that is 837 x 492 pixels, but will load very quickly. This size will likely be large enough for any post or page image accompanying text on your site.
- If you have the option, always use the "Save For Web" choice when saving an image. This can reduce image size by any additional 50-75% compared to the regular "Save" command.
If you don't have an image cropping tool, we recommend fotor.com
